sunday 25th october 2009 at after dark (31 didotou and ippokratous). doors open at 10pm. we’re up first so don’t be late….

our good friend (and lone reader of this blog) alex from the workaholics told me off yesterday. i have not been updating this blog and as he quite rightly said, if it’s not updated it’s not a blog! thanks alex, the diva needs a kick up the backside every now and then.

so what the hell have we been playing at. well, we had a rehearsal last sunday after two months of lazing about in the sun and swanning about in our brand new 4×4’s… oh behave… the truth is that most of the band didn’t really have a “holiday” holiday as such. michalis fought back the flames that threatened his house during the wildfires. me and vishy fought with the kid to get him through retakes at school (he passed!). only andreas really had a break but what can you expect from a guitarist?

vice from the velvoids has also been kicking our (very cute) backsides about getting a cd out on the market. he’s also right and we’re working on it. a live cd will be out very, very soon. it’ll be home-produced and we will be making it available at our gigs and online.

the velvoids begin their promotional tour on the 8th october. if you’re lucky enough to be in the same town as they are, go and see them. i will post info about how to get hold of their ep as soon as it’s available. (tour dates below)

we will be setting up some live dates very soon. i’ll post dates here as soon as we know what the hell we’re doing. so, sorry for the lack of words here over the last few months. i’m excited again so expect more here on a regular basis. you have been warned…

i haven’t written anything here since march ! i can’t believe that all that time has past without this diva feeling the need to spout some more meaningless nonsense. we’ve had two or three gigs since then which vishy has written about on our main site.

i will try and write more here but really can’t promise…

so what the hell is the band up to, you might ask ? well, we had a gig at tiki bar on the 22rd this month with dj ladydust which was pretty fabulous all round. great little venue, sweet crowd, wonderful sound engineer (girls rule !) and some of the friendliest bar staff around. thank you also to dimitris for offering us more spots there. we’ll definately be back.

next up we have a gig at an club with the spinalonga crowd. we’re just going to do a couple of tracks (not our own) with the velvoids, our partners in crime. that’s on the 16th of april.

after that it’s after dark on the 23rd of april. yes, you read that right. two gigs in a week. lucky beggers.

apart from that bad mathematics is now on twitter. follow us there if you want (sometimes) daily nonsense from us. we’re also on blip.fm if you want hear what we’re listening to.

i think i’ve lost a little bit of enthusiasm for the blog here. i suppose it’s the extreme lack of interest from the outside world but it’s also the fact that we have so many other networks for the band that this seems a bit obsolete. anyway, i will try and keep it up because you never know…

we have two gigs lined up. the first is on the 22nd march 2009 with dj ladydust

it’s at tiki. next door to the acropolis tube station.ladydust doesn’t play athens very often (because no-one pays in this city!) so this is a not-to-be-missed opportunity. see you all there.

after that we have a gig at after dark on the 23rd of april. details will follow later…

dear everyone who is interested, the workaholics and bad mathematics are sorry to announce that  the gig planned for today at planet music was, by common consent, postponed. all the members agreed that given the circumstance of dead children and continued police attacks on our youth does not create an atmosphere of frivolity. thank you.

our next gig will be on the thirteenth of december at planet music. the address is arditou avenue 44, mets. the gig starts at 10pm. be there or be very very very sad… at having missed another bad mathematics gig. you never know what might happen.

so our rather strange but ingenious bass player, webmaster, designer and all-round good egg type came up with the poster for our next gig entitled “carpet bombing”. for those who have seen us live and know the holy rug, this is a gem of title.

for those of you who have never seen us live, i have one question… why the hell not ? you have no excuse. unless you don’t live in athens, hate our music, are allergic to small venues, don’t have 5 euros, or spontaneously combust on leaving your house.

so be there at the next gig on thursday the 25th of september at after dark (31, didotou and ippokratous) or i will stop talking to you. or perhaps i will talk to you 24/7 for the next 50 years. now there’s a real threat.

what can I say? we are all bitterly disappointed that the “organiser” has canceled the gig we were due to play tomorrow. the guy obviously couldn’t organise a bacon butty but there you go. it’s not just that he wimped out at the last minute but that he has left us in a horrible situation with our rehearsal studio which we had booked for the whole week. it makes us look bad and that’s not the way we like to do things.

we had had odd feelings about this one but once we were into the final week, we thought it would be plain sailing. we should know by now that nothing here works like that.

sorry people of lamia, you’ll have to wait a good while longer before we can share the love with you.
